World's Largest Christ Statue Struck by Lightning

Lightning has struck the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'm sure the religious and superstitious the world over will be reading meaning into this event. And like a work of art, it is open to any and all interpretations. Mine would be that:

"Electricity seeks the path of lowest resistance. Arcing to a tall (typically wet) thing usually has a much lower electrical resistance than arcing through the air to the ground."

But then, I'm just a caustic skeptic.
